Crikett

Crikett came to me by way of the animal control in Mojave. I got this call from them and asked if I could take this three legged dog. I said of course I could but I needed to know some of his history.
He is a beautiful border collie, about 2 years old at the time. His owner had run over his front foot and never had it looked at by a vet. So about 6 months later the foot had lost all feeling and the leg had died.
I guess one of the neighbors called animal control and asked them to help the dog. So they went out to check him out and took him on the spot. They officer almost lost her life for him, but they both got out of there safe.
Needless to say they took him the the doctor and the leg could not be saved. It was amputated and in a few days he was home with me. He is the most loving, friendly, happy dog. He has joined the rest of my pack, and has playmates to play with and the most important thing of all he will never be hurt by another human again.

Toby

One beautiful sunny day in 2003, I strolled into the local animal shelter. Way in the back of the lot was a cage with a three legged dog. He was some sort of a short haired shit shu, chihuahua mix. He had these huge ears that stood straigh up, a bottom lip that stuck out and a tongue that was too long for his mouth.
So, I thought he would fit perfect in my house of misfits. So homeward bound we went.I was right he fit in just fine.
I always wonder what happened to his leg but will never know. He is so comical, and full of life. He is now 7 years old and you would never know he was that old.
He acts like he is just a year old puppy. He is pretty much a loner but does get along with everyone else.www.AnimalLeague.org/HelpMeHeal/Reggie

SMOKIE

One day I went to the local animal shelter, which I rarely do because I can't bear to see the eyes of all the dogs wanting someone to take them home.
Anyway this particule day I went in anyway. In my rounds I saw this very small pug mix.
Parts of his body was missing hair. I asked the person working there what was wrong with his hair? She told me that some kids set him on fire and he ended up in here.
The worst things was that that day was his last and he was going to be put down. I looked in his eyes and I could not let that happen!
So I adopted him and took him home.
Now by this time I had done this about 30 times. He got along with all the other dogs and cats. The only problem he has is that he weighs about 8 pounds and has the attitude of a pit bull.
He has the markings of a pug, the coloring, but the face of a chihuahua, so we call him a want to be pug.
He is the boss.....
